Faithful

“Remind my people that I am faithful.”

Sometimes I get a wind of gusto and I type away until my little heart is content. Sometimes I get writers block. Okay, I get writers block a lot. I try to always ask God to speak through me as I write. I do my best to let Holy Spirit lead. Today God told me to remind His people that He is faithful.

Is anyone familiar with the story of Moses? If you aren’t, I highly suggest you read it. It’s my one of favorite. Today I’ll be using scripture from it.

*Pharaoh had just let the Israelites go, but God had hardened His heart again so that he would pursue them*

Exodus 14:10-13 “As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, "Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn't we say to you in Egypt, 'Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians'? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!” Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.”

Some of those who are reading this feel as though they can’t escape Pharaoh. No, not that old guy who used to rule over Egypt. Pharaoh is that sin you keep doing. Pharaoh is that bad news you just received. Pharaoh is that depression and anxiety that rules your life. You get the picture. You know Pharaoh.

Just as soon as you start to make progress, as soon as you take a leap of faith in your life and try to trust God, something bad happens. You give into temptation again or your car needs maintenance for the third time this month or you have a bad day and just like the Israelites you begin to think God has brought you to this place just to abandon you. You lose hope. You lose faith.

I don’t blame you. I’m right there with you. It’s easy to get discouraged. You feel as though your breakthrough is so close, yet so far away. You keep running and striving towards something that feels unattainable.

“I’ll never experience the freedom of Christ.” “I won’t be healed.” “My life will always be this way, I’m better off back where I was.” “I’m such a disappointment to God.”

LIES

Today God says, “Don’t be afraid.” Today God says, “Stand firm and you will see my deliverance.” Today, God is still faithful - even when we screw up, even when we doubt Him.

Shortly after the Israelites had their mini breakdown, God used Moses to part the Red Sea and make a way for their escape from Pharaoh and his army.

Today you need to know: your Red Sea is going to part. Satan’s army will not overtake you. Your “pharaoh” will not defeat you. Your breakthrough is near! He is faithful. Rebuke all of your doubt and fear. Know that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the God of *insert your name* too. He is for you. He has not forsaken you. Deliverance is yours. Victory is yours, as it is His! Quit running and stand firm.

Exodus 14:14 “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

Don’t stress or worry. Don’t beat yourself up. Don’t doubt or be fearful. Be still. Know that He is God. Experience His goodness. Let Him fight for you. Let His peace rule over you. He is enough for you, in every situation. He is faithful.

Sing His praises, for the battle is already won. You are free, just as the Israelites, and the promised land is yours.
