He Cares For You

“God doesn’t give you more than you can handle.”

This has become a pretty popular phrase over the years. People tend to say it to someone when something bad happens or in response to someone who says they feel a bit overwhelmed. I see it posted on social media all the time. I have heard it myself from friends and family. I’ve even said it before, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a load of crap and the more I hear it (or read it), the more the phrase bothers me now.

To say “God doesn’t give you more than you can handle” implies that He expects us to deal with everything all alone. We easily see this isn’t the case in 1 Peter 5:7 “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” God doesn’t expect us to deal with anything on our own! Instead, we should allow Him to carry our burdens while we take on His peace.

So. In case you haven’t been told this lately, read the following carefully: you don’t have to do this alone. No matter what it is. It’s never too big. It’s never too small. It’s NEVER something that Jesus doesn’t want to walk with you through. Never forget that. Jesus cares about the little things just as much as the hugely important things. You are the apple of His eye and you were made to need Him. Don’t try to carry it all alone, you weren’t meant to. God didn’t dish out the cards life dealt you and say “well good luck.” He is with you and wants you to let Him walk with you, to take your burdens - because He cares. Let Him care for you!
